We started as a company dedicated solely to one thing: sharing the rare, nuanced beauty of 100% Kona coffee. That’s why we’re called Kona Coffee Company — and why we’ve earned a reputation for sourcing some of the most exceptional beans from the Kona District of Hawaii’s Big Island. That mission still guides us today, however, over time, we’ve grown. Not away from Kona — beyond it. Today, we still roast pure 100% Kona coffee and premium Kona blends, though we also offer a broader selection of small-batch coffees, non-Kona single origins, and limited-edition roasts like our Roaster’s Private Batch — all crafted with the same obsession for flavor, freshness, and integrity. We believe great coffee can come from many places — as long as it’s roasted with purpose and treated with respect. We don’t believe in weak blends or mass-produced coffee. We believe in bold profiles, cleaner finishes, and more meaningful cups. So while our name hasn’t changed, our offerings have. And we’re proud of that. This is still Kona Coffee Company. Why Do You Roast the Beans in California Instead of Hawaii?
We choose to roast in California for a reason. Shipping roasted beans from Hawaii to the mainland can take several days or longer, often traveling by sea or slower freight methods — and that time affects freshness. Instead, we fly in green (unroasted) Kona beans directly from Hawaii and roast them locally in small batches. This gives us full control over the process and lets us deliver fresher, better-tasting Kona coffee to customers across the U.S., without the added delays. Freshness matters, and that’s why we do it this way.
