100% Kona Coffee. “The Undisputed King of Kona.” Kona coffee, in general, is one of the rarest and most luxurious coffees in the world. “Peaberry #1,” on the other hand, is the rarest and highest grade of Kona coffee available on the market — it falls under the Type II coffee beans. Type I coffee beans consist of two beans per coffee cherry, flat on one side, oval on the other (this is what most of us are used to). Type II coffee beans consist of a single round bean per coffee cherry, which is 9x more rare.

So, why does the shape of the bean matter? Two reasons. Peaberry beans roast differently and they taste differently. From a taste perspective, peaberry coffee is typically more acidic, more complex in the upper aromatic ranges, and somewhat lighter in body. Peaberry coffee is smooth, rich, and robust in flavor.
